Vulva and Vagina Health

6 July 2020

Sensitive, itchy pussy, genital thrush / candida, that kinda thing. Here’s my prescription for you and she:

  • No soap or over cleaning on or in vulva

  • Calendula steam or sitz bath to soothe

  • Optibac probiotics for women orally and vaginally

  • Oregano oil capsules orally to help with gut health

  • Cut down on sugary foods, aim for rainbow plate

  • Drink more water

  • Get some rest

  • I believe healthy gut = healthy yoni! E.g. balanced pH

  • And inner balance, e.g. plenty rest, breath, movement and nourishment

The long of it….

Kooch Quench was my go-to balm containing Calendula, Lavender, Chamomile, Virgin Coconut Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Beeswax: https://www.fatandthemoon.com/products/kooch-quench-2-oz

I was also using a non-soap-based body wash (Trilogy botanical) on my whole body so I'm not drying out my skin, especially on sensitive areas such as my vulva, and do not clean internally vaginally, promoting my yoni to continue with her natural cleaning process.

This was my shower time indulgence: https://www.trilogyproducts.com/products/botanical-body-wash and I also use it as a foaming bath by adding a few pumps under the running water.

When I sought guidance from a naturopath a couple years back she recommended popping a probiotic into my yoni once per day to bring health and balance, specially OptiBac probiotics for women. If you really want something soothing internally then some natural yoghurt - which also contains probiotics! I wouldn't put anything else internally (not soap, nothing harsh like a douche or tea-tree oil) and instead let the body holistically rebalance....from the inside.

Taking oregano oil capsules orally can help with gut health amongst many other issues. Oregano is an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-microbial wonder plant! And the capsules mean you're not feeling the full force of the oregano flavour which you would if you were to take oregano oil neat!

It’s also be worth looking at diet which can have an affect on pH balance. In particular reducing intake of refined sugars and carbs. Consuming a "rainbow plate" is a good way of looking at diet - thinking of the rainbow colours of less processed, plant-based foods

Seems I had a sensitive pH going on and for a while I was prone to BV after intercourse - and I think it might be the condoms! I wanted to use natural ones but it feels like it may be a natural latex allergy so I now use specific non-latex ones instead - Skyn work for me. But now I’m more balanced I’ve been able to go back to natural latex condoms again.

So my general response is - put gentle, natural things on and in the body, and look to restore gut balance in the foods you eat, in order to restore yoni balance! I truly believe less is more with trying to "fix" issues like this.

Wishing you all the best for finding inner balance x
